Liverpool Christmas Specials

Now that the 1st of December has dawned, advent calendars have been cracked open and somewhere out there our beloved Bublé  is shaking the dust of his tux,  I think it's safe to declare that the festive season has well and truly begun.

I'm glad to report that restaurants across the city are embracing the spirit of all things Christmas and have been announcing edible Christmas specials by the minute. Father Christmas better be putting me on the nice list because I've spent hours trawling the web and kindly found you all the best ones.

The inspiration behind this post the 'Peds in Blankets' from Crazy Pedros
Here's my pick of the bunch so far- if you know any more send me a message and I'll keep the list updated!

Crazy Pedros
This bonkers Parr St Pizzeria haven't held back with this year's special 'Ped's in Blankets'. Topped with pigs in blankets, turkey crisps, cranberry ketchup and a rather alarming green 'Grinch' mustard it tastes a lot like it looks- a fabulous festive explosion.

Baltic Market
The Baltic have a dedicated Christmas trader this month in the form of Trailer Trash Xmas. A concept born from the brains behind Death Row Diner, they're doing a 'T-Rexmas' burger with turkey dinosaurs, chocolate orange spring rolls and pigs in blankets tater tots.  Who's coming with me?

Cafe Lucaya
Sister coffee shop to the fabulous Rococo, new kids on the block Cafe Lucaya are easing us into the festive season with a slightly more sophisticated take on festive food. Their Christmas Club sandwich is loaded with chicken, stuffing, cranberry sauce, lettuce and tomatoes.

Free State Kitchen
One of my all time favourite burger joints FSK have a burger special aptly named 'Miracle on Maryland St'. Their signature brioche holds a turkey, sage and onion patty topped with brie, cranberries, smokey bacon and caramelised onions.

Almost Famous
Whilst we're on the subject of burgers lest we forget about the 'Son of a Nutcracker' offering from AF this year. All the details about this monster here and don't forget about the Gobble Gobble Fries.

Moose Coffee
As we all know, Moose are the champions of breakfast and they've gone all out with their Christmas Candy Cane Stack. Red pancakes stacked high with mascarpone, icing sugar, mint, white chocolate and candy canes. If the sight of this didn't make you squeal then you are a much better adult than me.

The Baltic Social
This year sees the return of the infamous Festive Punk Tea, a take on the classic afternoon tea with all the fun you'd expect from a venue like this. Think mini burgers, mulled cider, prawn cocktail shots and baileys chocolate cake.  Book ahead here.

Miracle on Seel St
Not strictly just edibles but whilst we're on the topic of Christmas this place is festive AF. The space above Slims on Seel St has been transformed into the ultimate adult grotto complete with a huge Christmas cocktail menu, mince pies, pigs in blankets and movie nights. It is BRILLIANT.

Ah, just how I always imagined Christmas in Canada would be. All the best bits of  a Christmas dinner lashed on top of the best poutine I've ever had. (I mean, I've only had one but it was honestly incredible).

Yard & Coop

Yard & Coop have produced a very 'on-brand' Christmas food offering with their 'Chicks in Blankets'. I don't want to alarm anyone but there's even rumours of  deep fried mince pies knocking about.

Barley & Beans
You may know Barley and Beans as the caf' that kicked off the 'freakshake' trend earlier in the year. This Christmas hot choc is a little more grown-up and is topped with melted chocolate, marshmallow fluff and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Three Piggies

Three Piggies on Allerton Road have just announced their new menu and its packed with gorgeous looking Christmassy gems like this mushroom and chestnut wellington. They're also doing roasted pork belly with sprouts and chestnut mash and something intriguing entitled 'festive waffles'.

Slims Pork Chop Express

OK, so this one is basically just a Christmas dinner but oh my LORD is it a good' un. I make a yearly Pilgrimage to Slims for one of their seasonal trays and every year we leave more stomach-achingly full than the year before. Just to be clear: the dessert tray is almost as big as this one.

A festive dinner wrapped up inside puff pastry- what's not to love? Bold Street's resident pie shop Pieminister are not only doing 4 different festive pies but also a  range of sides and sweets including mini yorkshires, festive slaw and mince pie soft-serve ice-cream.

Merry Eating!
