A Liverpool-Based Food Blog

Roll up, roll up! There's a circus in town and this one is strictly for the grown-ups. I am, of course, talking about Albus Wolfgang's Spectaculum based inside the big top tent that has sprung up inside the Cain's Brewery village.

Inside the tent you'll find a whole host of old fashioned carnival games like hook-a-duck, play your cards right, a coconut shy and even a strong-man competition if that's what floats your boat. It's free to enter the tent but each game is a few quid each and if you're any good you can win tokens. Get enough tokens and you can exchange them for prizes, just like when you're at the arcade and you swap your tickets for toys except in here the prizes a little more unusual and a lot more *ahem*..phallic.

When you're not playing you should be eating and there's loads of decent snacking opportunities here including bags of candy floss and hot toffee popcorn as well as hot treats from next door neighbours Apocolypse Cow. I chomped my way through enough mini sliders to equate to about 6 full size burgers and can confirm the food is worth dropping in for just in itself.

There's also a cute little cocktail bar, tarot card reading and the weird and wonderful staff who are casually slinging glass balls around in the fashion of Bowie in the Labyrinth.

The tent is in town until the New Year and is open Thursday- Sunday until 11pm and is definitely worth checking out! Just maybe don't take your nan.

*I was invited to join the fun at the Spectaculum launch party but as always this is an honest review!
